DJ Bruno has been Djing in Boston since 1987. He became known in the college scene in the late 80’s to early 90’s for mixing Hip Hop, Reggae, RnB & House Music. Then in 1991 he began a residency at the Boston Loft after-hours club with Armand Van Helden. In February of 1992 he started the Legendary Utopia Parties.. The Utopia parties have featured house music royalty such as Louie Vega, Kerri Chandler, India, Barbara Tucker, Ultra Nate, Byron Stingily, Josh Milan & many more. DUE to this pandemic Utopia has gone virtual every Friday on www.dhpradio.com from 7pm-9pm est. He also does a weekly house music show on Mondays from 11am-12pm est. The show is called CENTRAL UNDERGROUND on www.facethebassrecords.com
On December 16, 1995 he opened Biscuithead Records (which closed on December 20, 2001…..Thank you Napster). In 2006 Boston Magazine awarded him DJ OF THE YEAR. In 2007 The Weekly Dig awarded Utopia Sundays the BEST HOUSE NIGHT IN BOSTON. In 2012 city councilor Tito Jackson declared December 22, 2012 as DJ BRUNO DAY! On October 22, 2021 he was asked to DJ an event for the Mayor’s office at Boston’s City Hall Plaza. On September 9, 2022 the Mayor’s office had him DJ a HOUSE PARTY event at Boston’s City Hall Plaza with performances by Lil Phunk, Phunkphenomenon & The Floor Lords.
During the summer of 2022 he Dj’ed every Saturday in downtown crossing outside of Macy’s for the Boston BID organization. He played mixture of 60’s, 70’s, 80’s, 90’s, 00’s, disco, rock, funk, hip hop, reggae,RnB, House Music & more to keep ppl smiling/dancing
DJ Bruno believes “IF WE DANCE TOGETHER, WE CAN LIVE TOGETHER!” When this pandemic ends, he will continue to spread that motto all over the world whether it be virtually or in person!
